Can anyone explain the
purpose of using VM Ware? Is it just
to run

machine? If it is, why not just do
a dual boot

Answer:
1. It allows you to take advantage of today's fast hardware and run several
servers on one box. e.g. file server, exchange server, DNS server, DHCP server, some could be linux some Windows, etc. It is also useful for testing in a development environment. There are many other uses as well.
2. To be able to run multiple operating systems at the same time. I have Virtual PC on my laptop. I can fire up my XP Pro Virtual PC, install any amount of client software to test, join the Virtual PC to their domain, etc, and my laptop XP Pro never gets dirtied by the clients' software or user profiles. It is also awesome for doing swing migrations.
